Introduction

Laurel Bank is a charming Victorian guest house offering guests comfortable en-suite bed and breakfast accommodation. The following information is provided to help in deciding if Laurel Bank is suitable for your needs.

Pre-arrival

Keswick’s main bus station is approximately 25 minutes walking distance however a taxi service is available, if you are travelling from Penrith or Windermere the bus stops virtually on the door step.

Penrith is the closest rail station, approximately 17 miles away – regular bus services are available

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Anticipated arrival time is requested in order that the proprietors are on hand to greet you. Laurel Bank B&B has its own private car park at the rear of the premises approached along a gravel drive to the left of the building and assistance with luggage is provided if required.

Keswick town centre is approximately 15 minutes walk away via the scenic footpath along the disused railway line. There is quite a steep gradient for the last couple of hundred yards if you are walking from Keswick to Laurel Bank. Local reliable taxis charge approx £3.50

Main Entrance & Reception

  • Our front door guests’ entrance leads on to Penrith Road.
  • One step 50mm high onto the path leading to the front door.
  • One step 50mm high and two 130mm high up to front door.
  • The front door is usually locked and a doorbell is available.
  • The front door is approximately 820mm in width.
  • Our reception area (W1800mm x L3600mm) leads to the main.
  • staircase. The dining room is to the right as you enter.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

We have a small double bedroom on the ground floor, one double and one flexible on the first floor plus one double and one flexible on the second floor.

  • All the floor areas on stairs, halls and bedrooms are carpeted
  • We do not have a guest lounge but all rooms have chairs and colour T.V.
  • The dining room is located on the ground floor and accessed from the hallway

Public Areas WC

  • All our bedrooms are en-suite

Dining Room

  • Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor
  • Furniture is flexible but normally we seat in two’s three’s or fours
  • Breakfast is cooked to order
  • Vegetarian and most special diets catered for

Restaurants

We are happy to advise on local restaurants to suit all tastes and requirements and will make bookings for guests if required.

Laundry

We cannot offer laundry facilities but are happy to help with drying wet clothing and to provide an iron and ironing board on request. There is a good local launderette in Keswick with parking.

Leisure Facilities

We do not have our own facilities but we are happy to advise on any in the area

Bedrooms

We have a total of five letting bedrooms, one on the ground floor, two on the first floor and two on the second floor.

  • All rooms have central heating radiators with temperature control
  • All rooms are carpeted
  • All bedrooms have complimentary tea/coffee making facilities

Ground Floor Bedroom

  • Situated next to the dining room off the reception corridor;
  • Flat screen TV 
  • Radio alarm clock and hairdryer;
  • One double bed;
  • At least 400mm access between bed and seating (can be removed);
  • At least 600mm around bed between bed and room walls;
  • Bed is approximately 600mm in height;
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with sliding screen.

First Floor Bedrooms

  • There are thirteen stairs to a small half landing then four steps lead to the main landing with access to first floor bedrooms.
  • The stairs are 170mm high 250mm deep and 850mm wide there is a banister and handrail to the right hand side.
  • Door widths are 750mm.

Room One

  • Flat Screen TV with remote control and teletext;
  • Radio alarm clock and hairdryer;
  • One double bed;
  • At least 600mm access between bed and furniture;
  • Furniture can be moved on request;
  • Bed is approximately 500mm in height;
  • One Leather Chair;
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with fixed door.

Room Two

  • Flat screen TV with remote control and teletext;
  • Clock radio alarm and hairdryer;
  • One double and one single bed, can be used as either a double, twin or triple room;
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture;
  • Furniture can be moved on request;
  • The bed heights are approximately 550mm;
  • Two high backed dralon chairs and a small Table;
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with screen.

Second Floor Bedrooms

  • There is a flight of eleven steps to a small half landing then a further five steps to the small second floor landing with access to rooms three and four.
  • The stairs are 170mm high 250mm deep and 850mm wide and there is a banister and hand rail to the right.
  • Door widths are 720mm.

Room Three

  • TV with remote control and teletext;
  • Radio alarm clock and hairdryer;
  • One double bed;
  • At least 600mm between bed and furniture;
  • Furniture can be moved on request;
  • The bed is approximately 550mm high;
  • One Leather Chair;
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with screen.

Room Four

  • TV with remote control and teletext;
  • Radio alarm clock and hairdryer;
  • One double bed and two single beds can be used as either a double, twin, triple or family of four (second single bed stores underneath when the room is used for double or twin occupancy);
  • At least 600mm between beds and furniture;
  • Furniture can be moved on request;
  • The bed heights are approximately 550mm high;
  • Two Draylon covered Chairs;
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with screen.

Additional Information

  • The small rear garden with paved patio and garden furniture is available for guests use (weather permitting).
  • Garden bench among colourful floral blooms in the front garden also available (useful for smokers!).
  • Mobile telephone service is generally available throughout the house but this does vary with different networks.
  • Free High speed broadband wi-fi is available.
  • We operate a non smoking policy throughout all parts of the house.
  • A fire alarm is fitted with call points, smoke and heat detectors. A bell sound if evacuation is needed.
  • We have a limited amount of space in our main fridge for medications and other special needs on request.
  • Wine glasses and bottle opener are provided and wine chilling and ice from our kitchen is available on request.
